We have all known the long loneliness and we have learned that the only solution is love and that love comes with community. —Dorothy Day

We Welcome New Members to Our Family: RCIA

Are you interested in becoming a Christian in the Catholic tradition?

If you are not baptized, or if you were baptized in another Christian Church or were baptized Catholic but have not completed your initiation into the faith (by First Eucharist or Confirmation), you are invited to join our parish community.

The Rite of Christian Initiaton of Adults (RCIA) is a process whereby catechumens and neophytes in the faith (anyone meeting the above description) are integrated into the Christian community at St. Brendan. This process generally begins with an inquirer's session and progresses according to each individual's personal journey until it culminates in the solemn rites of Easter Vigil, the holiest night of the church year, when the RCIA candidates are baptized, confirmed and/or receive the Eucharist for the first time.

The RCIA process is envigorating, challenging and fulfilling. By the time the RCIA class is welcomed into the community at The Great Vigil, hearts are opened, faith is strengthened and love is enflamed. If you ask any of our previous RCIA members, they will tell you that the night of Easter Vigil remains one of the most astonishing and important days of their lives.

If you believe that there is one God, that Jesus is Lord, that the Holy Spirit of truth and community works among us, and that there is a unique way of living the Christian life in the Catholic tradition, which embraces all people and all cultures, we invite you to explore our tradition and discover if it speaks to you.

To learn more about the RCIA process, contact Kathy Russell at 323 936 4656 ext. 259 or by e-mail at kathy@stbrendanchurch.org. We look forward to welcoming you to our ancient tradition as a priest, prophet and king.
